Day 07- Your favorite ribbon won at a show and why

I would say that to date- my favorite ribbon was when I won my first 1st place ribbon. It was at a schooling show in Watsonville and I was riding a horse named Cappuccino. She was a appy- not appealing to the eye BUT she was as sweet as they come and I had worked so hard to "polish" her up for the shows. It was a WTC- Eq class and Carli, Kristin and I were all in it. Normally the three of us were neck and neck and Kristin always won the under saddle classes because her pony Tinny (Tin Foil) was super fancy. Carli had her own horse and so she had more in the saddle time then I did. My grandma and mom were there to watch and I wanted to do so well. If you have ever been to the Watsonville Fair Ground we were in the Arena that is typically used as a warm up arena over by the fixed stalls. I rode through that class like it was the Olympics- head held high and making sure everything looked perfect!

I'll never forget how proud and excited I was when they called my name, number and horses name....

Day 05- Your first fall

My first fall scared the POOP out of me!

I was riding with Christine and was learning to jump... the horse I was on tripped pretty bad and I ATE it hard in the dirt. She made me get back on- crying hysterically I got back on and finished my lesson. I am thankful for her making me get back on.

Each fall is hard and I still don't like getting back on but I do...

Day 04- A ride that impacted your life

This is hard to think of one ride ... I wouldn't say that I have had one lately.

Probably one that I can refer to that I will never forget is the one time I rode and showed Lizard. He was a Chestnut super cute horse that my old trainers Marie and Riley had. He was a well seasoned horse who took great care of me. I had worked so hard to get to where I was- as two of my friends who I rode with were my competition. They both had their own horses and I was always fighting an up hill battle- riding different horses at most shows and trying to keep up with them. At this show I wanted to do well and had worked so hard.. finally I had a horse to match my "riding skills." We did great in the show winning first and second in all our classes- I don't remember what exact classes I did but something to the tune of flat (wtc) and some OF classes that were no more then 2 feet tall. Nothing crazy but I was proud and all my hard work paid off. I just remember feeling so great because I had ridden well and my horse had performed well.

Day 03- Your Best Riding

I wouldn't say that my best riding has been lately as I have had some hiccups... having a baby, horses that aren't what I need and life/work. I look forward to looking back at this in a year and seeing how much I have progressed. I am riding with a great trainer now who can take me further then I have ever gone. Money is going to dictate what I do in the show ring but I can at least get some great training and schooling shows under my belt.

So keep posted and I hope to show you some amazing progress :)

Day 02- Your current riding goals

My current goals are to get back into riding consistently. I just got a new horse a week ago and am hoping to ride him this Sunday after the craziness of my best friends wedding is over. I would like to start with some schooling shows this season and possibly do some bigger shows next season. We have almost monthly shows at the barn and they are a great experience for both rider and horse- especially since I am SO nervous all the time!

Eventually id like to get to the point where I: am jumping 3 ft courses, have polished my Eq, am confident in my horse and my abilities together and get back to a place where i feel that I am a competent rider. Right now I feel like I have the knowledge in my head but my body needs to get with the picture- I guess that's what having a baby will do to you ha!

Day 01- When and why you started riding

Day 01- When and why you started riding

When I was 8 I wanted to take horse lessons and my parents said that I could if I found a place and got all the details. So I went to the yellow pages and called around to many different barns. I ended up riding with Christine Whitman in Scotts Valley.

Then I moved to Briarcliff Farm in Santa Cruz when Christine moves out of the area.. there i rode with Jill Cole, Benson Caroll and Marie/Riley Wilson.

When I got to highschool it was to much for me to keep riding with Marie and Riley so I ended up just working horses for the equestrian program at my school. It was meant for beginners so they let me come down and ride whatever horses I wanted during my appointed period.

The first two years of college i didn't ride- couldn't afford it... but the second two years i rode on the equestrian team at Baylor University.

After College I took about a year off to get my feet on the ground and then bought Maddy MY FIRST horse... I will forever love that horse more then anything! I rode for a few years on my own here in Livermore because I didn't find any trainers that I liked.

About a year and a half ago I found Irene and I will never go else where! My new horse is Henry and I am excited to work with Irene and have a fab show horse in no time!

RIP Roxy

This weekend Roxy jumped the fence and was hit by a car and didn't make it. Sean and I are just heart broken over the whole thing. We can't imagine life without her and it has been the hardest weekend of my life trying to move forward.
We love(d) Roxy more then anything and she was just the best dog anyone could ask for. If any of you know about Aussies- they are the most loyal loving dogs ever. We were so blessing with 3 great years with her and know that she will never be forgotten.
We miss you Roxy but know that you are waiting in Heaven for us!
