She's Crawling

Well maybe it's more of a army crawl or butt in the air on all 4's crawl but she's mobile... here are four video's Sean took- enjoy!

Quick Snaps

New Feel

This blog is going to shift back to feature our family. If you want to follow my horse stuff you can go here.

Sean works this weekend so Bayley and I are going to go meet some old friends of mine for lunch on Saturday. It will be great to see them and introduce them to Bayley.

I am hoping that we can make a trip to the pumpkin patch on Sunday as a family. I will be sure to take lots of pictures to document Bayley's first fall!

Day 30. How much has your riding progressed in the past 30 days, and why?

I will refer to this for the post ...

Day 29. The division you hope to be doing in the next one, two, or three years.

One Year:
All the flat classes

Two Years:
Some SMALL jumps

Three Years:
Maybe the 2'6"/2'9" stuff

Day 28. The last show you competed in, and how you did.

Um the last show I competed in was on Tucker back in September of 2010. We just did flat classes- just 2. I was super prego and felt really self conscious. I beleive we placed 1st and 2nd in the classes. I was proud that I was able to get my butt on him and show even if it was just little classes :)

Day 27. The horse show association(s) you are a member of.

I was apart of USEF and USHJA but let them both laps due to the fact that I am not showing and I was figuring out my horse situation. When I do start showing again I want to renew my memberships to those two organizations as well as SAHJA (if our barn decides to attend these shows).

Day 26. The highest you’ve jumped.

I beleive 2'9" ... There was this pony that I loved to death at my High School named Mista- she either hated you or loved you and she loved me. This was probably the most fun horses (ponies) that I have ever ridden. She would try 100% for me and do anything I asked.

Day 25. Your biggest horse show pet peeve.

People who aren't aware of whats going on around them. PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE YOU ARE IN A PUBLIC PLACE. I guess this goes everywhere I ride.

There are a lot of things that bother me at shows but then again it is a public place and I can't control what goes on and how people act.

I really don't appriciate poor show management either- being a project manager for a living makes me extra critical about bad management I guess.

I am trying to have a more positive outlook on life so I will stop this post before I get on my soap box :)

Day 23. Your complete show outfit.

Coat (gray, brown and navy)

Shirt (white, yellow, pink/white/blue stripes, pink)

Breeches (i love my Ariat side zips)

Tall socks (for showing I have a few nice pairs of socks in my garment bag- for everyday riding i use Targets tall socks and love them)

I have 2 pairs of Ariat tall boots- one pair is pretty brand new and i've only worn them once, the other are the pair that I wear more often. I guess I have a backup pair or a stock pile for when the current ones need to be replaced haha!

My helmet is a CO AYR8 (thanks Lyssette for helping me find a sweet deal!)

I have a few belts- a thick black one that has tooling, a thin black one with my name on it and a thin brown one with Maddy and Tuckers names on it- I am going to add Henry once I decide on a show name for him :)

Also in my garment back I have:
- a shoe lace to hold on my number
- hair nets
- bobby pins
- hair ties
- extra socks
- extra shirt and breeches
- extra belt
- boot pulls
** and im sure other things I can't think of right now

Oh yes and if you are prego and don't fit in any of your show clothes, you rock a polo! :D

Day 22. Your favorite horse show.

Here is a blog I already did about this.

Day 24. The ribbon you have the most of.

I used to have a bunch from showing when I was younger but when I packed up my room to head to college they went in a box somewhere and I have no idea what happened to them when my parents moved.

Fast-forward to the present ... I have a few from last fall when I rode Tucker and Rocky- some 1st, 2nds and 3rds but I am not sure what of each.

Hopefully Henry and I will have a nice collection over the our up and coming show career :) Stay tuned!

Day 21. Do you/will you/did you compete in IHSA when you are in college?

I did ride in College. I wasn't on IHSA though we were NCAA- thats right I was a Div 1 athlete in College :) I rode in the flat classes- they were run like a dressage test which was weird- but since I used to memorize courses it was all good. I did well in them so yay for me! Haha

Day 20. Your favorite picture of you at a horse show.

I like this one cause I am SO happy and had fun (i bought this pic btw)

Day 19. Name a division you would NEVER do, and why?

I would never do any of the big jumpers. (you know like the 1.25 and up, although I don't know it I will ever even get that high)
http://www.stock-horse-show-source.com/images/horse-jumpingAA.jpg
I love to watch it but I think I would puke my guts up and then pass out from being so scared. You have to be a really gutsy rider to do this and I don't think I posses that quality any more. There was a time in my life that this was my dream but the logical side of my brain has brought me back to reality.

Day 18. How do you prepare for a horse show?

RELAX RELAX RELAX!!!! But I am not so good at actually doing this.

This would be for a one day show...

I typically do the following at home:
- Clean my tack
- Pick out my stylish 'fit
- Clean my boots
- Pack my garmet bag, adding an extra pair of sox, breeches and shirt in case needed
- Also pack up all my hair/helmet stuff- including hairnets, bobby pins, hair ties and a shoe lace for my number
- Pack a snack/drink cooler

At the barn I do:
- Wash my horse
- Take appropriate actions to keep horse clean- if it's cold enough slinkies and blankets it is!
- Gather all of the grooming supplies needed, including boots/polo wraps, bathing stuff and towels
- Water buck, blankets (if needed), leg wraps, shipping boots

I am sure I forgot things but that is a basic overview.
